They look like big unicorns!...

I've been on hiatus for the past week or so, but I have returned with my thoughts on the movie Legion.

So, until I watched the movie, I referred to it as "the evil angel movie" and I was off-base in that assumption. The movie had the ability to good, but it's awkward progression and all-of-a-sudden, though not surprising or unpredictable, ending left me feeling as if the movie must be missing pieces.

The film seemed to focus on aspects that were not of real importance and failed to give me a chance to emotionally connect to the characters so that I would actually care when one died. And, as one could obviously expect, people did die, and no, I was not on the edge of my seat hoping that they made it through.

I was also unaware that angels were from England, or had English accents, but that is something that can be overlooked.

the past couple days I've...

I caught this fish on Monday, and while I was not present during the cleaning and gutting of the fish (I was showering and napping, and by napping I mean in a coma), I am almost certain that I did eat this for dinner Monday night. It was super fun and yummy. He was a struggle, but I reeled him in! After eating the fruits de mer of my labor (and Ryan's, Reid's and Taylor's), the four of us watched Grandma's Boy. Too funny.

I also returned to Gulf Hills, on my own and in the daylight, and I not only made it back out without getting lost, but I also found the Elvis house!

I evaded going to the high school graduation, thank goodness! I will be attending a minimum of three within the next year (mine in 6 months, how scary!) so I decided skipping this one was completely acceptable.

I am still without quarter...

Things I'm liking

Please keep in mind, like all of my other lists, this is not a complete list, but rather things I am currently thinking. Oh, and I'm making some headway on the whistling goal!

+

  • Lost is over!
  • The song on the commercial for the Next FoodNetwork Star
  • LOTR (that's a constant love, I've never disliked the books or movies)
  • The vegetables are huge
  • I have a fishing license again
  • New seasons of shows are coming on in the near future.
  • I'm going out on the boat (no, the oil is not coating the beach!)

-

  • My dad still hasn't paid up that quarter
  • The toad came back... we kicked him out, but I believe he'll make his way back in that box
  • Alyssa leaves soon =[

Radiator... or something like it.

[Saturday]

Today, by my own choice, I stayed in my pool too long. My results: the most amazingly one-sided sunburn yet!

The plants are doing good, I'll send them everyone's love. Apparently, that's all they need.

I had chicken nuggets and french toast for dinner. It was spectacular.

I am extremely upset at internet jukeboxes. Tonight there was an attempt to play Free Bird four times in a row, but the box said "No, I hate you!" and played Brick House instead. Now, Brick House is a fine and dandy song, but no one shouts out "PLAY BRICK HOUSE!" Oh well, sometimes you lose.

Bowling is fun.

Good night moon!

Can not access??

[Friday]

Today I was temporarily employed by Chester Harvey Realtors. My job: accompany them to Mr. Greek to eat lunch. Yes, that was indeed my job!

Tonight I was able to spend the evening with 'the gang' which is short for: Alyssa, Alyssa, Molly, and Katy. We ate lots of food and were exceptionally silly. Katy made some people say, "I hope our child never acts like that" in their heads, even though their child was throwing a temper tantrum and they thought it was adorable. I feel as if their heads are on backwards, seeing as Katy only threw her purse onto the booth.

On the way home we were suddenly stopped at a closed road sign. I took the Honda off-roading and successfully turned us around, although we were all convinced we were going to get stuck in the mud.

Also.... I got the five of us lost in Gulf Hills. For those not from Ocean Springs, Gulf Hills is not Gulf Shores, it is a golf-course community. And, the only reason I went down there was to find the Elvis house. Unfortunately, I don't know the street names and since it was dark we got turned around in all directions and then my garmin couldn't access the satellites. Sad day... for Weimer. She was terrified because we chose to turn by the cones and follow a man pulling a boat, but low and behold, he led us back to civilization (even though we were in civilization.) I also might have driven on the golf course at one point, but that is not relevant except in the aspect that Alyssa thought zombie cops (or something of that nature) was going to get us.

Mam zabawy, nie umieścić mnie.

+

The plants are getting big. I had a nice evening with Ryan and his family. I spent the rainy day indoors with my family and puppy. My dad removed a problem toad.

-

A toad attempted to eat my hand and destroy my plants.

(That's the language of my homeland...)

seedlings!

[pretend this is Friday]

+
My vegetables have sprouted! I had lunch and spent the afternoon with my best friend! My dad sang Kesha (notice the lack of dollar sign -let's keep it that way.) My dad and I danced to techno in the car. I visited some family today. I ate a key lime cupcake. Ryan came to visit.

-
I went to my aunt's wake. My birthday continues to be a hindrance for me to spend time with friends.

You win some, you lose some.

An adventure in food

Today Shooter performed the best trick yet; he whole-heartily believed my sister's pony tail was a chew toy. Courtney was covered in puppy kisses and her hair was a mess. This lasted for at least 10 minutes; 10 of the best minutes of my life... maybe. That's karma!

My mother made the most amazing pasta dish I've eaten in this house for dinner tonight. I've been given the recipe and plan to cook it in Ryan's kitchen once we're back at school.

At the moment, I am patiently awaiting midnight. I decided to embark upon the scary journey of making meringue cookies at 8 p.m. and much to my excitement, they seem to be on the track to deliciousness! Oh, and they are definitely blue.

I have been watering my vegetables as needed and I am anxiously looking forward to little green sprouts in the next couple days. =]

Stay classy!

The Discovery of Chegg or The Tale of the Still Missing Quarter

Because I am a college student, this made my life...

http://www.chegg.com/ is a textbook rental place. The three books I need for this summer would cost me $167 at Barnes and Noble. At chegg, they only cost $61. Annnnnnnnnnnnd, you don't pay for your return shipping, they give you a sticker to send it back. ANNNNNNNNNNNNNND they plant trees!

In other news, my father has yet to give me my quarter for winning the "I bet the cat will get in your window box and mess up your vegetables" bet.

Another new goal for the summer:
  • win enough bets so that I can buy those yummy lemon-flavored shark ice cream treats from the ice cream man.

I would buy a drumstick but the last time I did, there was glass in it. Not kosher, although kosher is not particularly important to my religion, but I do recognized and understand the importance of it in other people's lives and religious beliefs. There we go, got that statement taken care of!

Miss Steer! Miss Steer!

Somehow, I was able to wake up early and get to my mother's school by 8 a.m. Please don't ask how this was done, I truly believe it was magic. The morning of proctoring began with free donuts and juice as well as an escort by an eighth grader to my room. These kids were crazy; one girl had two Red Bulls for breakfast at the recommendation of her mother. Once they realized that I was in fact related to Mrs. Steer, their computer discovery teacher, the questions started rolling. My favorite one was, "You're the one in college right? You're not in high school, right? Mrs. Steer said her daughter in high school gets in trouble all the time!" Of course, I replied "Oh yes, I'm the good one!"

The kids finished their tests relatively quickly, and it was quite interesting to see what they had to read. Some were reading the childish works of Stephen King and Mark Twain. Another was reading the literary masterpiece The Ultimate Zombie Survival Guide.

In other news, my dad owes me a quarter and I have created some summer goals.

  1. Learn to properly whistle.
  2. Once 1. is mastered, learn to whistle the Andy Griffith Theme song.
  3. Take more and longer walks.
  4. Continue to win quarters in bets against against my dad.

Snowcones... yes, this will be a reoccuring theme

I must say, the best snowcones come from a caboose in downtown Ocean Springs. The only way to make a trip there any better is to go with friends. And today, that is just what I did. My two Alyssas and I went and walked around downtown and on the beach. Luckily for my home, the oil has yet to wash up on the shore.

I also planted squash and zucchini today into a nice little window box. It is sitting outside and I'm hoping all the animals leave it alone so I can eat the vegetables of my labor. I suppose I will keep everyone updated on their status; I know everyone is dying to find out the end result. Well, rest assured, I will not let these seeds wither! I will be grilling squash and zucchini in approximately 50 days.!

In regards to grilling, I'm not sure how many people have seen the grill commercial, for those who haven't, it has a bunch of people dancing like crazy in it, and I am extremely upset with it. I could do a much better job than many of those people, and I wasn't even contacted or informed that this commerical was in development. So, I'm not extraordinarily excited by barbeque grills, but then again, I highly doubt that old woman dancing is either.

Catching Up

As a way to both occupy time and adequately keep people up to date with my interesting, though I would not call it intriguing, life, I felt it was necessary to start this blog. I was convinced after the overwhelmingly positive response and support of a measly two comments on Kim's Facebook wall.

So you might be asking, "Brittany, (or B. Steer depending upon who you are) how do you decide where to begin with the ridiculous moments in your life?" Well, I have the answer; this summer. I hope anyone who happens upon this piece of the interweb finds themselves entertained, or at least, not completely bored. I can not, however; promise that everyday will be filled with hysterical happenings, seeing as I will be spending some of my time doing school work and proctoring state tests at my mother's middle school. I'm also not that exciting.

So on to the main events! For brevity's sake, I will bullet these, since I am covering a week's worth of...things.

  • My puppy dominated in a war for the couch. I lied helpless as he stood over me, laughing with his eyes. He's cute.
  • I wrestled a cobra. Said cobra was actually my puppy. Our heads collided and now I have cool scars on my face.
  • I embarked upon and completed Mission: Crinkle Cut the Pickles.
  • I helped install our new swimming pool liner... yeah, I did.

Ok, so four is hardly "a lot" but we'll see what happens over the summer. Oh, did I mention that I'm attempting to grow squash?
